Current Projects
PAVE is a research organization dedicated to advancing the state-of-the-art in the fields of robotics and autonomous vehicle operation. We are especially focused on employing passive sensing techniques, such as computer vision.
Our primary goal is to continue to enhance the autonomous vehicle platform we entered into the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge. Our failure to make it to the finals in the Urban Challenge highlighted several weaknesses in our current system: Future efforts will focus on fixing these issues and adapting our overall approach.

In addition, PAVE is currently entered in the 16th Annual Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC), to be held in Spring, 2008. Student are designing and building a small ground robot from scratch and programming it with a complex set of autonomous behaviors such as waypoint navigation, obstacle avoidance and lane following.
