For the last several days, we’ve been working with FIRST Team 1923 from West Windsor – Plainsboro School District, the FIRST team which our current PAVE President Derrick Yu helped to found. We’re excited to launch the second year of our FIRST outreach program, and we hope that focusing on fewer teams and building a partnership with 1923 will set the groundwork for a stronger outreach program in the future. The group has been working diligently and making excellent progress, and we look forward to seeing their successes!
Team 1923 is now in their fourth season, and won the 2009 New Jersey Regional FIRST competition. That earned them a spot at the Championship in Atlanta, where they managed to get to division quarterfinals. This year, the team is bigger than ever, with approximately 40 members. The students are involved with all aspects of the team, from robot construction to fundraising.
If your local FIRST team could benefit from a partnership with PAVE, feel free to contact us for more information about our program and how we can help.
This year, PAVE members will be attending the New Jersey regional to cheer on team 1923 and other teams from the greater Princeton area. We will also be exhibiting Prospect Twelve and our current (yet-to-be-named) IGVC robot at the New York City regional.
